Congratulations to the Trinity Christian Girls whose amazing performance in the water ended Seton’s 28-year streak of regular season Conference Championships. Their performance was truly inspired.
We did not lose because we swam poorly. In fact, we also swam incredibly well, which is why we can be completely justified in being happy for these Trinity Christian girls and their coaches. We had a total of 143 Personal Records, so when that level of performance doesn’t get it done, you can only tip your hat.
The meet came down to the final relay where they had to get 1st and 3rd to win – and they did. But once again, it wasn’t because we swam poorly. Seven (7) of the eight (8) girls on our two (2) relays swam lifetime or season-best times, and the one who didn’t swim a lifetime best came within a half a second of her PR after swimming 100 Breaststroke immediately before. No coach can ask for more than that!
We have never seen Trinity Christian’s Allie Witdoeckt (JR) before – she’s new to their team this year and didn’t come to any of our December meets – but she sure was special to watch with a 52.29 split on the anchor of Trinity’s 400 Free Relay.
We didn’t lose – they won. Their swimmers were just better tonight. Looking through the results, I can also see where their coaches were just better tonight.
